Which pH electrode should I choose?

The correct choice depends on your sample, environment, and instrument. Consider:

• Volume: Micro electrodes for small samples and tight containers(e.g. PCR plates and micro tubes); standard electrodes for routine measurements; surface electrodes for droplets.

• Sample consistensy: viscous samples like honey, and harder samples like cheese or fruit, require special electrodes.

• Material:

  • Plastic/epoxy – extra robust and user friendly.

  • Glass – high precision and stability for difficult samples.

  • PEEK – chemically resistent and durable in difficult environments.

• Electrolyte:

  • Gel/polymer ("maintenance free") – easy in daily use or with multiple users.

  • Refillable – maximal precision and flexibility, and available with multiple diifferent junctions.

• Diaphragm/junction: Glass, ceramic, fiber, platinum, PTFE, or open – minimize blockages and get reliable use in dirty, protein-containing, or aggressive samples.

• ATC (automatic temperature compensation): Choose models with built-in temperature sensor when the temperature varies to achieve reproduceable results.

• Connectors: We have variants with BNC, BNC/RCA (cinch), DIN, DIN/4 mm, S7/AS-plug and more, to ensure that your sensor fits new and old, portable or tabletop  instruments from most manufacturers.

Maintenance – prolong the lifetime

Correct storage and service is the key to stable measurements. Store your sensor in a matching storage solution (never in destilled water), calibrate regularly with buffers in the relevant range, and change the electrolyte in refillable sensors as needed. Choosing a fitting diaphragm for your sample will decrease the risk of clogging, leading to reliable use.
